Dear Jenny,
We had a wonderful time on Skye, spending 10 days at Moeraki; a perfect place to feel at home away from home. Extremely well equipped and very tidy and clean. The location is perfect to tour around the Island and Broadford provides everything you need within walking distance. We explored all the treasures the Isle has to offer to those who like to walk or hike. Very kind people and stunning landscapes and views. Skye is a great place to visit, even with a 15 months old toddler so despite the long trip, we will definitely recommend the Island and Mouraki to our family and friends.

Hello Jenny,
We didn't actually do very much; we were feeling rather lazy! We had planned the week around a seaplane flight which we had booked for last Thursday. Alas, that had to be cancelled due to high winds so we'll try to do it when we come again in May next year. I saw Trotternish for the first time and thought it was breathtaking and quite unlike the rest of the island; shall explore it more next time. We also had a jaunt along the mainland coast to Torridon - always a winner. There is a craft shop and restaurant (called Carron Crafts, I think) on the right as you go into Lochcarron; the food there is excellent.
The otters didn't appear but we did have a kestrel sitting on one of the fenceposts one morning and the daily flotilla of great crested grebes was a joy. Elsewhere we saw two or three golden eagles and a couple of ospreys.
Altogether it was a great week and we can't wait to come back to Skye.
Thanks again and Happy Christmas!
All the best

Hi Jenny and Dave,
Our stay has now really come to an end after a relaxing day at 'home' and an excellent dinner at the Creelers.
Thanks again for everything, the excellent service, a great place to stay and the wonderful wheather. Even if we know that you can't do anything about the latter; we were very lucky these last two weeks.
Kind regards,

Beautiful well equipped home from home. The views are spectacular from the lounge and all over Skye. Visited Uig and ferry to Uist, Armadale Castle, Kyle boat trip (excellent), Elgol and boat trip. Good food at Claymore, Hebridean and Waterfront Takeaway. Pizzas at Cafesia very good! We will be back!!

Hi Jenny,
It was lovely to meet you during our stay at Moeraki. We had a fantastic week in Syke and were so lucky with the weather. We loved Moeraki and will recommend to all our friends, it is very well equipped and spacious and the beds are so comfy - even my children commented on that. The view from the living room is truly stunning and ever changing depending upon the time of day and the light. The location is perfect, ideal for touring round Skye and with a good selection of restaurants within walking distance. I have also left comments in the visitors book and "liked" your facebook page.
Hope to be back again.
Best wishes,

Dear Jenny,
We had a wonderful holiday in both Ullapool and Skye and loved our stay in Moeraki, it was so comfortable and well equipped and such a lovely location! Thank you for all the effort and thought you have put in to make it such a delightful place to stay, we just loved it!! We would love to return please as it was so lovely and relaxing and are very happy for you to tear up the good Housekeeping cheque rather than post it back. We have left some comments in the visitors book, all positive!!
Warm wishes,

Dear Jenny,
We all had an amazing introduction to Skye by staying at Moeraki. The accommodation was excellent and met all our needs for a comfortable week's holiday. The cleanliness of the bungalow was of a very high standard and also all the furniture and fitments.

We would certainly recommend Moeraki to family and friends.

The wildlife from the lounge window was so fascinating and kept us glued to our binoculars. The sight of the otter on our first night was a delight.

Skye itself is also an amazing island. What wonderful scenery and so peaceful and spiritual. So wonderful to be away from city life and all the large supermarkets!!

We will certainly return again to Skye and of course Moeraki. Thank you so much for your hospitality and look forward to being in contact with you again soon with regards to another holiday.

Best wishes,

Margaret and Howard

Hi Jenny,
The house really sells itself with the view. I have visited Skye many times, usually staying at Croft Bunkhouse in Portnalong, but this was Linda's first visit. We didn't see all Skye has to offer so another visit may be on the cards and will be in touch when we sort out dates.

Hi Jenny,
We have had a superb two week stay again - the place is great, and the weather has just been amazing!!!!!
We think the place is really well kept and the kitchen supplies and lounge bookshelves are really well stocked. (And the extra bedding is a really nice touch too, not that we needed it). We stay in self catering whenever we go away, and I really do appreciate the quantity and quality of the kitchen bits especially - it really makes a difference for people who eat in more than out!
We'll be booking again for 2016 as soon as the website will let us!!!

Many thanks,
Nic, Paul, Theo and my parents :D

This is the best UK self catering accommodation that we have stayed in - great value. The beds are fantastically comfy, showers great. The house is lovely and warm and the kitchen is equipped to a very high standard - even to the quality of the ipod dock! Great utility room to dry wet clothes if the Skye weather lets you down. The facilities, combined with the stunning location on the seashore which provides views and wildlife to enjoy from the house window and the convenience of the Coop 10 mins walk away has to make this accommodation difficult to beat.

We absolutely loved the house. The quality of furniture, bedding etc was of the highest quality. Loved the location and the views. We enjoyed the boat trips from Elgol and Lochalsh. Enjoyed Dunvegan Castle. Will recommend.

Our break at Moeraki was luxuriously comfortable. The shower and bath facilities were excellent. The kitchen is so well equipped it put my own to shame! The views from the living room and bedrooms were breathtaking.
We saw the otter once, going about his/her business and managed to get a picture (albeit very blurred!). Amazingly good value for money. We all hope to visit Moeraki again soon!

Dear Jenny,
We all thought Moeraki was a spotlessly clean, spacious and well equipped bungalow with beautiful views from the lounge. It can rightly be described as a luxury bungalow. We were all very pleased to be staying there and looked forward to returning to the warm glow from the log fire after long walks in the rain! The log fire was easy to get going and enjoyed by all.
Thank you for your care and attention throughout.
Yours sincerely,

Dear Jenny,
Thanks for your email - and sorry to be so long in replying.
We had a most enjoyable stay again, at Moeraki - with plenty of wet weather throughout the week. The house was as warm and comforable as we have come to expect, the otter showed a few times, and I finally managed to read 'Hutton's Arse' which was as fascinating as the reviews had suggested. ( Might have to go north to Knockan Crag again ... ! )
I hope to be in touch again when we get our 2014 holiday plans in order. Meanwhile, best wishes for Christmas and New Year,
Mark.

We had a fantastic week - weather for the first 5 days was great! Walked to Camisunary on Monday - it was fantastic.
The house facilities are excellent & so is the view. Could spend hours just looking out the windows. Love this area & this is our 3rd visit staying in Skye.
Love it & will definately be back.

Moeraki offers a high standard of accommodation in a most beautiful setting. The pictures on the website do not exaggerate – this is a first-rate venue for a holiday. Located on the shoreline it gives a wonderful view of a constantly-changing landscape with many sightings of wildlife possible, including an otter. We can recommend Moeraki without hesitation. Colin and Jane, Hightown, Liverpool.

What a fantastic house!!
It is very clear that an awful lot of care and thought has gone into providing a perfect home from home. The views are amazing. Saw the otter once - swimming close to the edge of the sea in the little river to the left of the cottage.
We also enjoyed visits to Dunvegan Castle, Eilean Donan Castle, Elgol, walking in the Fairy Glen and to the Fairy Pools, the Museum of Rural Life, Duntulm Castle & Kilt Rock Waterfall. Also Waternish Peninsula, SkyeSkyns & Stein Inn.

Hi Jenny,
What fantastic accommodation - so superbly located, very comfortable and well equipped. We saw lots of wildlife from the balcony - terns, cormorants, oyster catchers and even gannets and porpoises! The views are a real luxury. You're lucky to live in such a spectacular location.
So much to see and do! Shame we only stayed for a week...
With thanks,
Alison.

Hi Jenny,
Yes thanks we had a great stay in Skye and Moeraki was just perfect. It is very well equiped and very clean - not even a complaint from my mother-in-law and she is very particular! Loved the views and watching them change. I would highly recommend your home to friends and I'm sure we will be back soon!

Our third visit to Skye and second to Moeraki was as wonderful as ever. We saw the otter many times just in front of the cottage, climbing on rocks, eating fish. The seal came most days to the rocks at the right of the cottage. The sea changes by the hour - different colours, calm, rough. You could never get bored of such a view. Moeraki was clean, comfortable and well equipped. We did our favourite family walks. Hope to be back.

A fantastic fortnight. After arriving in the rain we enjoyed 2 weeks of mostly hot and sunny weather with only one day wet throughout. Moeraki is very comfortable and well equipped. Everything we needed for foody self catering. thanks for a great holiday - our 10th year on Skye and this one ranks with the best.

Hi Jenny, Our fist impressions on arrival at Moerakii were very positive. House was well equipped, tastefully furnished and well presented. The instructions for all the equipment was clearly presented too. The views from the front of the house are stunning. Broadford is accessible and good base to explore Skye . Coop close by and long opening hours.
We also found the website and your correspondence helpful and informative. The house was cleaned to a high standard.
So we all had a lovely, relaxing holiday. We will recommend Moeraki to friends and hope to return ourselves.
Thanks again,
Heather.

Lovely comfortable bungalow with super views and very well equipped. The whole family commented on the comfort of the beds. Saw the otter once during the week around 10pm. The Claymore restaurant at the top of the road provided us with lovely food along with the Waterside Takeaway fish & chip shop - biggest and best fish we had for a long time.
Thank you.

First visit to Skye and struck Gold with the weather - blue sky and sunshine all week. The house has everything we needed for a home from home experience, though with the wonderful weather we had, we didn't have enough time in the house to truly appreciate what is provided. I would add that the beds and bedding were the best I've ever experienced, so much so that I took the mattress details for future reference. Hope to be back sometime.
Best wishes,

Dear Jenny, Moeraki was lovely, we wish all holiday homes were like that, but unfortunately they are not. During our stay, we saw an otter on five occasions, once right outside the gate! We were all thrilled, it doesn't matter how many times you see them it is still wonderful. One day we watched as he caught a huge fish and took it up onto the rocks to the right of the house, and proceeded to eat it - magical! We were also very fortunate that we saw golden eagles at Ord, and also a white tailed sea eagle near Uig. Add to all this, breathtaking scenery, amazing sunsets , and such lovely friendly people, why would anyone want to go anywhere else! Am currently trying to convince my husband how wonderful it would be to up sticks and come and live there permanently!
We still didn't manage to do or see, everything on our "to do this year list", which probably means we will return again next year. We will be in touch once we have made a decision.
Thank you again for the use of the very lovely Moeraki.
Kindest regards,

A relaxing week in a delightfully situated bungalow. We saw the otter on Tuesday evening at about 7pm just before high tide. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Moeraki and time went by all too quickly. We will certainly return either later this year or in twelve months' time.

We're back again for another holiday in this lovely cottage. As usual we have found it spotless and plenty spacious enough for the 6 of us. The views are gorgeous! We have discovered some new restaurants and would recommend many trips. The nearby Coop is very useful. Hope to return.

06/05/2013

We had a wonderful time at Moeraki - a truly stunning location for a superb house. The views are outstanding, and the whole place is just lovely to be in, especially nice to stand out on the balcony watching the sunrises and sunsets. The quality of Moeraki is fantastic, and it is perfect for actives and relaxers alike - the drying space is great for wet gear, and the big windows are great for weather watching from the warmth of the house!

We have been to Skye a few times now, and this was the first time with our one year old. Usually, we walk higher ground (some nice non-ridge walks from Sligachan and around the Storr, Quiraing, Loch Coruisk (from the boat) and up to Coire Lagan), but this time we stayed lower (Talisker Bay, the Dinosaur footprint beach near Staffin, Elgol, Camas Bay, Neist Point and the Sligachan valley).

There is still so much to see, so we are very much looking forward to another trip next year - and Moeraki is so nice, we are staying twice as long!

29/04/2013

On arrival in Kyle on Saturday 13th the locals said "its been really difficult, so hot, wildfires, water brought in by tankers"!! Sunday to Thursday: the heaviest rainfall for 30 years! Thankfully our research paid off and we enjoyed the excellent facilities at Moeraki. The weather improved and we enjoyed many trips out. We have never taken so many quality and varied photos as this trip - many from the balcony on week two. Loved it all and will recommend to others. Thanks so much.

We had a wonderful stay on Skye. I am just so glad that I booked Moeraki- the perfect present for my mum and dad (especially with mum coming from Broadford). Moeraki is a wonderful comfortable house with lots of space and a view I would love to wake up to every morning! We found the house to be extremely well thought out with every essential supplied. Having 2 en-suites was ideal and a super sized bathroom too was a bonus. My children loved being able to go down to the beach on their own through the little gate – just perfect. Everything was very clean and in good condition in the house. We will certainly return to Skye and would not hesitate to book Moeraki again or recommend it.

26/11/2012

We've had a lovely stay at Moeraki. The house is great and I could happily wake up to that view every day! We set ourselves the challenge of getting around without a car. The tip here is to plan ahead - the buses cover much of the island, but aren't too frequent and end at 4pm at this time of year. Would recommend the Marble Line walk from Broadford out towards Elgol. It is well sign posted and covers good ground. Also a pleasant walk is to be had around the castle grounds at Clan Donald. Unfortunately we did not see the otter this time, so we will just have to come back!

18/11/2012

The house everything one needs to stay comfortably. Jenny and Dave you have done a great job and provided us with everything, including the wine, flowers and a wedding card. Just keep this cottage as it is! Highly recommended, if we come back to Skye it will be Moeraki. This was our first time to Isle of Skye - first time to Scotland. We had a wonderful week; a wonderful honeymoon; peaceful and quiet.
The weather was grey, cloudy and rainy, but we did not come to Skye for the weather. If we wanted sun and high warm temperatures, we should have stayed at home. We enjoyed going around every part of the island and a day to Inverness.
8am saw the otter! It's the first time we've spotted one - what a lovely sight to send us away with!

Dear Jenny,
Thanks for the returned cheque. We did indeed have a very pleasant stay at Moeraki again. Just to re-iterate: It's a superb location and the house is so comfortable and well-maintained that it's always been a delight to stay in.

With best wishes, and sure we'll be in contact again before too long,

Thanks so much - we've had a wonderful week - cottage so comfortable!
Caught the ferry from Sconsor to Raasay and walked up Dun Caan - the flat topped hill. It was a glorious day - saw for miles and miles! ... and 2 sea eagles & 1 golden eagle were the icing on the cake!! Speaking of cake, the Watermill Cafe just up behind the cottage serves lovely cake and coffee.

Thank you Jenny, Dave & Niall for all your help. We have had a wonderful two weeks and have seen most of Skye. The cottage is great, so comfortable! We have seen the otter three times and on our last day it was playing outside the house. A seal regularly swims past and there is lots of bird life.
We hope to come again next year and do more walks.
Thank you once again.

Would recommend Moeraki to stay - lovely cottage with everything you need .... home from home! Skye is beautiful - will definitely be back! :-)
Our stay in your cottage was great - it is a very central location and ideal for trips north or south of the island. We packed a lot in, visits to Portree, the Storr, Kilt falls, Elgol and boat trip to Loch Coruisk, Three Chimneys restaurant, Dunvegan Castle, Talisker Distillery, Plockton, Eilean Donan Castle, Uig and drove to Aird of Sleat - so all in all, did really well! We had nice meals at Creelers and the Claymore as well as coffee and lovely cakes at The Watermill - can definitely recommend the Rocky Road!

This was our first visit in Scotland and it was great!! We hiked the Storr, the Fairy Pools, Macleods Table, Rubha Ardnish ... We visited of course Eilean Donan Castle and the Clan Donalds in Armadale. We loved this house! Each room here is great, the kitchen has all you need for cooking, the living-room has all what a technicole heard needs!!! Our kids were happy! And for the parents were the view from the balcony!
We loved to be here, many thank for letting us be here.

We found Moreaki to be a spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable cottage equipped with everything we needed during our week long stay on the island of Skye. The location is perfect for exploring the island and the mainland, being only ten minutes from the Skye bridge. The immediate access to the beach was great fun for the kids who loved to explore the rock pools and throw pebbles into the sea.
Highlights included visiting Plockton and going on Calum's seal trip, the pottery at Uig, the Fairy Pools (beautiful!) and Sleat. There is so much to do on Skye, a week just isn't long enough! We had a wonderful week at Moreaki and I would highly recommend this cottage to anybody wishing to visit Skye.

19/08/2012

The cottage caters for a wide range of ages with something to keep all elements of a family happy. We found it equipped to a very high standard, seldom repeated in any of our previous rentals. The views and sunsets at Moeraki had to be seen to be believed. The views from the Lounge and front bedrooms were quite simply first class. We have travelled all over the world and have not yet seen anything to better them.
During our stay we ate at Creelers, Plockton Shores, Loch Bay at Stein, and Kinloch Lodge all of which are highly recommended - the last three require to have a prior booking as they are so popular. My son could hardly bear to drag himself away.
We would love to come back at some stage in the future after we have forgotten the traumas of the journey!!!!!!!!

What a fantastic cottage. So clean and comfortable and the views are amazing. Most mornings a seal came to the rocks just to the right of the cottage. On day 10 we saw 2 otters playing in the sea and scrambling over the rocks. It was amazing watching them!!
We all loved exploring Dun Scaith Castle and Dun Ringill. The boys went quad biking at Armadale and loved it.
I can't imagine staying anywhere else on Skye now we have been to Moeraki.
Thank you so much,

Dear Jenny,
We had such a good time in your wonderful house!!! It is actually the best we have stayed in when being in Scotland and England before. One can feel that you really care for it. You must have a great heart, letting other people share this gem!!
We spotted dolphins in the bay, a seal rested on a rock for over one hour..... we had spectacular skys..... we couldn't ask for more.
Your very well made website promised us a great holiday and what we got was by far above our expectations!! We will and already did recommend Moeraki to our friends and family. It is a pity that it is quite a long way for us to come, but we do intend come again!

Thanks for this perfect holiday!
Wishing you all the best and hope to be in touch once again Best regards Katja Lenzing.

Dear Jenny and Dave,
Many thanks again. Your holiday home was terrific again just as last year and definitly no cause for any complaints whatsoever. Best hoöiday accommodation I have ever had. All others in our party are of the same opinion and we had a great stay on Skye and the weather played its part too. I never believed I would see an otter at Moeraki but indeed we did last Thursday evening. I remarked this in the guest book.

I have since returned to Germany but some are continuing their holiday on the outer Hebrides before returning home.

Hi Jenny
The cottage was lovely and as there were 6 of us we had plenty of space to spread out. Everywhere was lovely and clean and the comfy beds and big fluffy towels were much commented on. There was always plenty of hot water as well !!

There seemed to be very little you haven’t thought of and we were very happy with the cottage. We found it easy to find and access etc and all the instruction booklets were useful.

We have left some tips of good places to go etc in the visitors book but to be honest we could have written so much more. It is our second time to Skye and Kevin and I will be back next year no doubt. The books in the cottage were good especially the little Skye walks one – we are going to buy one next year.

Anyway – many thanks again and hopefully we will be back next year – but just the two of us this time

Dear Dave and Jenny
We arrived back last night from Scotland and found the cheque waiting for us, thanks very much. We had a wonderful time in Skye and I’m in awe of Scotland as a whole. We just loved it there. The house was perfect, the location, and every comfort, and of course the wonderful view. We spent quite a lot of time just sitting and looking out at the bay. I didn’t say much in the book simply because once I started there would have been no stopping me!
We walked, did the aqua boat trip, which was fun, exciting, and interesting. People are so friendly and pleasant. We drove a bit, but mainly just relaxed. I find I can't get the words out to express the warmth I feel when I think about Skye.

Sincerely

Jenny
I have finally got round to leaving some feedback following our fab stay 26th May to 2nd June. We had wonderful stay on Skye and the weather was fantastic all. The house was excellent very well equiped and in a lovely location and near enough to the village to access the local Co-op. A walk on the pebbly beach exploring the rock pools was great fun for our daughter.

A trip on the Misty Isle boat trip from Elgol is highly recommnded the trip goes to Loch Coruisk and from here you have a wonder view of the Cuillins and time to explore and walk if you wish. If your lucky you may see dolphins
(unfortunately we didn't much to our daughters disappointment, but you can't book wildlife!!)
A walk up the Old Man north of Portree was excellent and the views spectacular. Fishing was also good fun the best spot we found was the pier at Armadale, we caught lots of Mackerel for tea!!!
All in all a great family holiday!

Moeraki is a superb place to stay, everything we needed was here. Thank you Jenny and Dave. The weather has been absolutely brilliant - 2 weeks without any rain!
We have had some lovely boat trips and a great meal at the local inn at Applecross, (great views from there).
We sat and watched otters at Tarskavaig beach and dolphins playing in the surf at Coran which was brilliant! Neist Point Lighthouse - phew!! Dunvegan Castle and Glenbrittle also worth a visit.
A great holiday, thank you.

Dear Jenny,
My friends and I would like to express our thanks for your part in our wonderful week in Skye. The amazing weather combined with the scenery and the friendliness we met wherever we went left us all with a feeling of wellbeing, but the comfort and cleanliness of the house completed the picture. All was perfect.

Dear Jenny and Dave
We found the situation of the Cottage delightful with the ever changing light across the bay a constant joy. The Cottage was very clean and warm and we felt immediately at home.
We travelled to a different peninsula each day and filled our time with the views and galleries. There are eating places to suit everyones taste, we especially enjoyed eating at the Flodigary Hotel on Trotternish and the Dunvegan Hotel. The Cafe at Broadford next to the Post Office provides great meals and for Scones head for Elgol, the Cafe adjacent the upper Car Park. The Fish and Chip Shop in Broadford provides good food at reasonable prices, however we were disappointed with Sunday Lunch at The Claymore near the Cottage.
We enjoyed a good chat with "Grumpy George" at his studio near the pier at Armadale and his Shop has delightful prints and craft works. The gardens at Armadale were not as good as those at Inverewe. We thoroughly enjoyed following the Gallery and Studio Trail by the Skye and Lochalsh Art and Craft Assiciation which we found in the Cottage, we purchased works from the Croft Studio near Dunvegan.
We were delighted to see two Otters playing and fishing in the Bay close to the bottom of the garden early on the Sunday morning, and the abundant Herons provided entertainment. We can thoroughly recommend a day with the International Otter Survival Fund based in Broadford.

We look forward to returning to Moeraki in the near future.

What a fantastic few days in Skye for Dad's 60th birthday! We could not have been luckier with the weather. Wall to wall sunshine with clear crisp sunshine and views to the mainland snowy tops; Eigg, Rum and Canna and of course the whole Cuillin Ridge from the top of Blaven. Day 3 we were seriously considering a dip in the sea to cool off and came home with slight sunburn!
The coffee and scones conniseure amongst us highly recommends the Skye Bakery in Portree and Elgol's "Cuillin View" Cafe.
Fantastic walks on Blaven, The Quirang and circuit south from Graveyard on the Elgol Road, (in Jenny's house guide).
Oh and the house! Couldn't have been better!

Had a great holiday on Skye. House well equipped. Lovely weather, had some great walks to the Quiraing and Fladda off Raasay.
House clean and close to all amenities. Had a lovely time in this very comfortable house and welcoming beautiful island. We would recommend a visit to friends or EVERYONE!

We very much enjoyed our stay in Skye. The cottage was very comfortable and the views over the water very thought provoking. The weather was very good for this time of year and we toured around most of the island. Some of the views from the high roads are spectacular!
We sampled many of the local restaurants and can recommend Red Skye and Harbour View. A lovely peaceful holiday enjoyed by all.
Thank you.

This was our third visit to Skye and once again we had a wonderful stay on this beautiful island.
The house was all we were looking for and more. Everything we needed was at hand and the setting just perfect.
We have spotted sea eagles, golden eagles, herons, oyster catchers, but alas the otter has not made an appearance. Oh well, that just gives us a reason for coming back again - not that we really needed one!

Dear Jenny
Thank you so much for creating a beautiful holiday home. We loved every minute and cant wait to return. The views out from the lounge are brilliant i could have sat there all day relaxing. The weather was very sunny during the week too.
One week was not enough. We will be getting in contact with you soon regarding this October and again next march. We have become addicted to Skye. The only thing that Skye is missing is more shops. My husband was rather pleased we didn't spend all his money. talk to you soon.

Kind regards

P.S. We saw the otter every day :-)

Dear Jenny,
Thank you for the e-mail.
We had a wonderful week in Skye. My family are from Islay so i was expecting it to be similar but it was totally different, Skye is very dramatic in it's landscape which was was stunning and totally unexpected, every twist and turn in the road gave way to another amazing view, i would highly recommend a visit. We had lovely weather too!
Moeraki itself was just perfect, everything you could possibly need and waking every morning to that view was just something else.

Thank you very much for a very warm welcome to Skye and make sure that week is free next year.

Kind regards.

Dear Jenny,
We've had an excellent stay at a superb cottage. The weather has been generally wet, but we have occasionally seen the sun ...... no sign of the otter though! The train journey to Mallaig was stunning.
We will certainly recommend Moeraki to friends and family and hope to return in the future.

Dear Jenny,
We had a wonderful stay. The view is excellent and the amenities wonderful. Our weather was exceptional for this time off year - no rain! We saw almost all of the island with spectacular views around the coast. Next time we can do some of the walks. We would recommend Moeraki to all our friends from here and Canada.

Thanks for leaving the wine.

Dear Jenny,
Thank you for a wonderful week in your cottage. I think we won the prize for the most exciting weather! Our drive up on Saturday was through a blizzard for most of Glasgow onwards. Luckily we arrived safe and sound at Moeraki. In the morning we were greeted with incredibly beautiful snow covered scenery, even the beach had snow on it!
The house is amazing and kept us very warm and comfortable in the cold conditions. On the Thursday we didn't dare venture outside into, according to the news, the worst storm to Scotland for a decade!

Again Moeraki kept us very comfortable! Thank you for a brilliant holiday.

Hiya Jenny,
I honestly can’t fault the house or the furnishing and we were in it a lot! We absolutely loved the house, it was warm, comfortable, beautifully thought out and designed. Listening to the sea in the morning as I was lazing away in that amazingly comfortable bed was fabulous. The views change continually through out the day, we saw hundred of birds that I’m not used to seeing, curlews are as common as sparrows! It was lovely to see the snow on the mountains and a trip to Plockton as recommended by a very friendly lady in the Toy Shop at Kyle of Lochalsh was wonderful, the cows just live in peoples gardens! The scenery was so colourful and bright and diverse. It was fab.

Skye has some very powerful vibes and some of the wildest weather I’ve ever seen! The rain was being blown up hill at one point. Water falls and mountains are incredible though.

But I have to say the best thing was still your lovely house and I never really wanted to leave it. We had a fabulous rest, Mark really enjoyed all the equipment in the kitchen to cook with, whatever he needed he found so we cooked and ate rather a lot too!

Thanks again Jenny – I wish we’d have had chance to meet up! A week goes by so quickly though..maybe next time.

All the best

Hi Jenny,
Thankyou so much for the use of your beautiful home. We really did have a lovely time despite the 'iffy' weather. We managed to get out every day to go biking and play on the beach. George really enjoyed his night time strolls along your beach looking for crabs and starfish. I was amazed that we were able to find a starfish in the same pool for 2 consecutive nights. I am assuming that it was the same one.

For your information as well as the happy hour at the pool in Portree on Wednesday evenings, they also do a swimming happy hour for 50p at the Kyle of Lochalsh leisure centre, which is almost a huge log cabin. It's cute, but the best bit is the amazing play park next to it. It is fab. Maybe these are things to note in your visitor info for those with kids. There's also a great toy shop in Kyle and it's not over priced. This is where we bought George's fab kite from.

We are already looking forward to our next trip.
Thank you again

This was our 3rd stay at Moeraki and it was good to see the autumn colours on the mountainsides having previously seen them snow-capped at Christmas and heather clad in summer. The house was as comfortable and cosy as always, despite the wind and the rain outside for a lot of the week.

The local otter swam past a couple of times when the tide was going out and we also saw otters at the furthest of the Storr Lochs.

Thanks for everything - hope to be back again before long.

Jenny,
A very comfortable cottage and a great base for visiting the island and beyond. Our main reasons for coming to Skye were to enjoy a less-hectic holiday and take some landscape photographs, (some of which I will upload onto your Facebook page as requested).

We will always remember the friendly people and the awesome landscape. Thanks to the great Bill Brandt for the inspiration.

Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful holiday home.

Dear Jenny
Thankyou so much for your email
We had a most enjoyable week chilling out at Moeraki so comfortable and cosy, we only manage one or two weeks holiday in a year as we are farming people, so to go to somewhere like Moeraki and just relax is just perfect, waking up in the morning to the glorious sea views even on the wet days was just fantastic, we enjoyed exploring Skye and managed to see Golden Eagles and Sea Eagles on our travels, I don't think there are many roads we didn't explore and the scenery never dissapointed us, we also saw seals from the cottage and an abundance of birds but not the elusive otter, but hopefully if we decide to return to Skye in the future we may be lucky next time, we sampled most of the restaurants in and around Broadford and the food and service was excellent in them all. Thankyou for allowing us to stay in your beautiful holiday home and hope we will be able to stay there again in the not too distant future.

Hi Jenny
We have just returned from our week at Moeraki. We had a lovely time (like before) - the cottage still has everything you could wish for and we spent hours sitting looking at the view. It was good to be back. The weather wasn't brilliant so it was great to have somewhere so comfortable to chill out. Our favourite place to eat was the Red Skye and the Cuillin View tea shop at Elgol does good scones and a large selection of tea - recommended.
Once again thanks for providing such a lovely place for a holiday.

Kind Regards,
Iain

Dear Jenny
Thank you for returning our deposit cheque which arrived today.
We found Moeraki ideal for our family gathering celebrating our Golden Wedding. The cottage came "highly recommended" and lived up to all expectations. It had all mod cons, was very comfortable (especially the beds) and our bikes were kept dry in the shed. Actually, although we had some showery days, the weather never kept us indoors for long and we enjoyed walking, scrambling and cycling. On other days we enjoyed arts and crafts on the Waternish Peninsular, Plockton and even Masai dancers at the McDonald Centre at Sleat.

The seaview from the front of the house was sublime although we did not see the otter, only the heron. It was a wonderful base from which to explore the enchanted island.

All in all a memorable, relaxing and most enjoyable week.
Thank you very much.

A great holiday although somewhat mixed weather. A fantastic holiday house - everything you could possibly need. Top trips were the drive to Elgol, the Coral beach and the Fairy Pools. The nearby Serpentarium great for kids on a wet day and Creelers really good for lunch. The Old Inn at Carbost nice and for the kids the Sligachan Inn ideal as playground outside. Altogether a great trip and stay. Thanks so much.

Dear Jenny
Thanks for returning our deposit cheque so quickly! We really did have a fabulous time in Skye. The house is just stunning - you have thought of everything and it really is home from home. The girls loved having a bedroom each - something they don't often get on holiday - and also loved having access to the beach. They saw seals quite often but alas, no otter, despite being up at about 6 some mornings! The beds were very comfortable, as was the lounge.
The Wii was great on the one day we had torrential rain as was Jenga :)

Both ourselves, and my parents, enjoyed visiting the various galleries and studios in Broadford, and also further afield - Portnalong, Isleornsay, Uig and Portree. We also visited Dunvegan castle, SkyeSkins, Talisker Distlllery, Clan Donald centre and Eilean Donan. The girls enjoyed Eilean Donan best I think but mostly due to a fabulous guide there who pointed out loads of things to them on the way round. The girls were amazed by the many waterfalls we passed and we spent a good few hours river walking. We had a good morning in the Serpentarium, where we all held a lovely Royal Python, watched a snake shed its skin and Freya decided she wanted to adopt a chameleon. If you've got kids, the pool in Portree does a family hour with loads of floats and toys out which the girls had a great time at.
My parents went to the Sea Eagle exhibition at the Aros centre (and got in free as they are RSPB members). They said it was good and the guides were very chatty, friendly and informative.

We ate at Red Skye, Creelers and The Claymore in the Broadford area - all gave us very good food and good service but I think our favourite was Red Skye. Yje atmosphere there is lovely and friendly and the food is fantastic. We also ate at Seamus Bar at Sligachan - very good homemade pies and an excellent play park all made for a relaxing evening or two.

All in all, a great holiday - hopefully, we'll make it back sometime soon.

Thanks so much

Hello Jenny,
Thank you for your lovely email and the return of the good housekeeping cheque.
We had a great holiday at Moeraki, the house was extremely comfortable and very well equipped, especially for a party with 2 elderly and disabled guests. We did get several opportunities to sit out on the patio in the sunshine, and although we didn't spot the otter we did spend several hours looking out over the bay and saw several seals. A pair of binoculars would be a welcome addition for guests, my brother-in-law's were in constant demand!

We visited several places on Skye and the mainland, would recommend the Aros Centre for the sea eagle exhibition and lunch, also a trip on the Bella Jane to Loch Coruisk is not to be missed, especially on a sunny day.

We ate at The Red Skye restaurant on 2 occasions; the food was exccellent and the service very friendly. We also enjoyed lunch and dinnner at the Plockton Shores.

Thanks once again for making our holiday so enjoyable and you may of course use any of these comments on your website.

Dear Jenny,
All returned safely and in excellent spirit after a very satisfying holiday.
Thank you very much for your extremely prompt attention to the return of the deposit. I do not think one would find such a service that the deposit for a holiday home is returned before one has managed to get back home.
All enjoyed their stay at your lovely, well equipped and comfortable holiday home. I have been to a number of similar type accommodation also in other countries and none were as good as Moeraki. Maybe also the excellent location right at the sea makes a difference too. The views from the front rooms across to the mainland or island(s) were breathtaking, the breaking waves or the birdlife (did not see any otter though) along the water's edge and the ever changing light due to weather, cloud, time of day, or just so, was fascinating.

Our party are keen walkers and we particularly enjoyed the walk around the Quiarang (full round from above and below) and same for Storr with their rock formations. We also did a lovely walk at Ben Eighe (Loch Maree) on the mainland. The choice of walks is boundless though and one cannot do everything. The picturesque town of Portree and Plockton village were highlights too.

The house itself more than met our needs and as I mentioned above is very comfortable and one is always happy to get back tio it after a long day's activity.

I would definitly come again to Moeraki and our group already have been reporting amongst friends and work colleaugues about it. You are sure to see an increase in business fron North Germany for next year.

Also best wishes to you both in your new home. Not only as a scot I consider it as a good move.

Kind regards

Dear Jenny,
Thank you for your email and kind comments. We like to treat other people's properties as we would our own.
We certainly enjoyed our stay in your lovely bungalow. We had a wonderful holiday and as usual the time went too quickly. We must have travelled down almost all the roads on Skye during the week and vote Skye as one of the most picturesque islands off the coast of Britain and we have certainly visited plenty.
Remarks I would make for your website would be that Moeraki is ideally situated for amenities yet with beautiful uninterrupted views of the sea and quiet location is really like being in the middle of nowhere.
The bungalow is very well equipped, is scrupulously clean and well furnished. At high tide the sea comes almost up to the lawn at the front of the bungalow and there are wonderful views across to the mainland.
There is an abundance of wildlife including otters and unusual bird life. Be sure to take binoculars. One excellent trip we did was a boat ride from Portree to see white tailed Eagles.
There are plenty of good restaurants close by.

Thank you for letting us stay at Moeraki and if we decide to come back to Skye we will get in touch.

Also thank you for returning the cheque.

Dear Jenny
Thanks for your email and the safe return of the Good Housekeeping cheque.
Your bungalow was extremely comfortable and so well kitted out-even having a tea bag grabber/strainer ,which i had never even heard of before.
The balconies were much used over the two weeks -the lounge one for the views particularly with the first coffee of the day,and the kitchen one a perfect sun trap late afternoon/evening.

No trace of the otter,in spite of regular checks. In fact wildlife generally was much less visible this holiday.

All in all a great holiday on Skye, lovely weather, scenery amazing, people friendly and local co-op well stocked and helpful.

Thank you for a lovely stay.

Back again, weather mixed, but after so many years of coming to Skye, who cares what the weather does. Have seen the otter twice. The watermill cafe great, as is the chip shop. Lots of great walks and climbs. The Harbour Restaurant in Broadford fab food, good prices, but need to book. Great house, so clean.
Thank you.

Hello Jenny and Dave
Many thanks for the use of Moeraki for a week, we had the most relaxing week even though we were out most days despite some wet weather. Moeraki is in a perfect position on Skye and a luxurious home from home for a week, only small gripe - the cold bathroom floor tiles... and that is only a very small gripe. We have left enough things to do for another visit and would love to come back to Moeraki. We've burned the view from the patio doors into our memories to recall when we feel a bit down.

Many thanks for returning the cheque and big thanks again for letting us stay.

ps apologies to whoever Guest C if it's someone you know on Wi Fit because I couldn't resist knocking him / her off top spot on the balance games!!!

pps didn't spot your otter......

Dear Jenny
Thanks for your email and thanks for the return of the cheque.
We had a good few days stop-over in the Yorkshire Dales. Definitely broke the journey up - I think we covered 1,500 miles in the last two weeks!
I would like to thank you very much for letting us stay in your beautiful home. It really was a home away from home and had everything we could possibly have ever needed. I'm missing the view already so will have to keep looking at the webcam to get my fix! My friend Sally wanted me to say that she found the bed extremely comfortable - she has a water bed at home so when she goes away she sometimes suffers from a bad back but she had absolutely no problems with your mattresses. Also we found the shower great - lots of room. All in all it was a fantastic holiday and we would thoroughly recommend Moeraki to anyone thinking of holidaying in Skye.

Best wishes.

Hi,
Thanks for returning our deposit cheque. And thank you for another wonderful week at Moeraki, the house was just a stunning second time round and the weather was an unexpected but welcome bonus.
Thanks for being so accommodating about my sister/other half arriving early.

Thank you for your lovely email! It was a pleasure to stay in Moeraki, Ijust wish we had more time there! Your house is beautiful and furnished to a very high standard in fact its a dream house in my eyes. Iain and I are hoping to come back over by ourselves next time and you will be my first point of contact when we do.We survived the crossing, thank goodness it was the Uig ferry I would never have coped with the Ullapool one! Dear Jenny,

Just to let you know we arrived back home safely.
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderful home. Everything about it was perfect.
We had a fabulous week exploring the Island.
Elgol, Kilt Rock, Staffin Bay, Neist Point, where we watched the sun setting. Magical. Coral Beaches WOW what a beautiful place to spend a gorgeous spring day. We saw Seals at Talisker bay. Amazing. Glenbrittle, Sleat Peninsular. The Quiraing and Old man of Storr.
Everywhere we went was fantastic. Round every corner was something amazing to see.
Cannot wait to be able to come back again. There is so much more to see and do.
Thanks again for introducing us to the amazing Isle of Skye.

Hi Jenny,

Many thanks for the return of the housekeeping cheque, which arrived today.

We had a lovely relaxing week at Moeraki, and the plumber calling was no problem at all.

I did write in the guest book about how pleased we were that everything was just as special as it was on our first visit back in September 2009. It's difficult to come up with additional feedback that hasn't already been said !

We loved the tranquillity of visiting in low season, and it didn't bother us that most places were still closed, though that may not be the case for everyone. I must admit that even we were surprised to find Portree so quiet !

We would love to make a return visit to Moeraki in the future - in the meantime at least we can see a little of the panorama from the webcam ! I often log on just to see what the weather and tide are doing !

Regards,

Karen.

Hi Jenny.

Just back from our short break in your lovely, comfortable holiday home, beautifully equipped and in a stunning situation. We were amazed at the amount of wildlife we could see from the cottage window, including the otter(s). George compiled a list of all the birds we’d seen and I wrote it in your guest book.

The purpose of our visit, as you know, was to introduce our Grandson to his Great Grandmother and his other relatives on Skye. He managed to charm them all!
We hope we can manage back sometime, stay for longer, and not have such a frantic time.

Best wishes.

Joan

Very comfortable cottage, love the beds! Best equipped cottage we've ever stayed in. It was a pleasure to cook in the kitchen - and I don't normally like cooking!

Had a lovely week on Skye, one of our favorite places; we'll definitely be back again.

My one disappointment - we didn't see any otters anywhere and we spent 3 hours at Kylerhea Otter Haven!

Thank you for letting us stay in this lovely cottage and for the wine on arrival - lovely!

Hi Jenny

We both had a fantastic relaxing week, a perfect way to recharge the batteries!! Your home on Skye is absolutely amazing, by far the best self catering accommodation we have stayed in - it will be hard to stay anywhere else now as other holiday lets have a lot to live up to! - Moeraki has spoiled us!! - now I know what holiday lets would look like if Carlsberg made them : )

To be honest we didn't really do very much - a lot of places were closed for the winter (so there is plenty for us to do on our next visit!). We got around most of the island though, the scenery was stunning especially the waterfalls you can see from the road after the snow thaw and heavy rain.

We would love to stay at Moeraki again and I would recommend it to anyone - we will definitely be in touch!

Thanks again

07/01/2011

Dear Jenny,

Thanks for the returned cheque. We had a very enjoyable stay and found the house as comfortable and well-equipped as we could have wished. Lovely to arrive to a warm house with a sparkling Christmas tree, and the electric fire in the lounge was good for a little boost every now and then.

We did get a clear night or two, so the new ‘star book’ proved its worth. ( Of course, clear nights are cold nights, so there wasn’t very much hanging around outside ! ) Virtually all the ice was gone by the end of Boxing Day, so we got out around the island without any trouble – but still with views of snow on the mountains. Ideal.

Thanks very much for accommodating our odd dates. I very much hope we’ll be back at Moeraki again before too long.

Best wishes for 2011,

Mark

Many thanks for the email.

Yes we had a lovely time in the cottage and on Skye - the weather for November was really kind to us! We did leave a little comment in the guest book at the house too.

01/11/2010

Hi Jenny,

Thanks once more for letting us stay in Moeraki - it is without doubt the best holiday home we have stayed in terms of both location and comfort. We were particularly impressed with the high standard of it all. Everything had been thought of (and it felt very much like a home rather than just a base as often holiday homes do). Our six year old spent much of the week rock-pooling when the tide rolled out, and I don't think our dog has ever been happier what with all the swimming and sniffing to be done! With baby number 2 on the way, the peace and tranquillity and stepping out of the rat-race was just what the doctor ordered for all of us. We spotted the elusive Otter at dusk on the second night of our stay, much to our delight. We also spied two golden eagles up near Uig which was a real treat. We'd recommened a drive up to the Faerie Glen near Uig, as well as a drive round the top of the island - the scenery looking out onto the Outer Hebrides is just sensational.

We will definitely be returning to Moeraki. I think it's fair to say it has cast a spell on us all. Please feel free to use anything from this email on your website.

Thank you again,

Gareth, Emily, Noah

Dear Jenny,
Thank you for letting us stay in your fantastic holiday home. It was absolutely ideal - everyone was happy! It's not always easy when you have four boys and a dog - well done!
We loved Skye and will be sure to visit again. In the meantime we will definitely recommend "Moeraki" to family and friends.
Regards,
Suzanne Allan
P.S. We didn't catch the submarine as we were off walking on the other side of the island.

10/10/2010

Dear Jenny,

Thank you for a very comfortable and relaxing holiday. We were captivated by your wildlife “sanctuary” along the shoreline. One calm evening we were seeing the otter on and off for more than 2 ½ hours and watching him dispose of a large plaice and later trot along through the garden. We will treasure all these memories and look forward to coming back for more!

26/09/2010

Hi Jenny,

Thank you for your email. We did have to do a spot of extra cleaning before we left as we had quite a lot of wee finger marks on the doors - a 10 month old trying his first steps!!! We had a really nice time weather could have been better but that's Scotland for you. The otter visited the garden most days I think he as a feeding place up behind that he goes to each day. We had quite strong winds for a couple of days which I loved looking at the waves at night. Moeraki is beautiful - I don't think there was anything else you could add to it!! If we are ever going back to Skye we will definitely be in touch with you.

Thanks
Kind regards Jean

Dear Jenny,

You have a very comfortable and well equipped house – excellent!
The best place for fishing is from the Broadford Pier and for those without rods the best fish and chip shop is in Portree harbour. The “house otter” lives to the side of the house and can be seen early morning or in the evening when the tide is in.
We had a great week, great weather, in a great house!

Thanks,

06/09/2010

Dear Jenny,

We arrived to dark clouds and blustery winds, but were then treated to a week of great weather. The house is spacious, comfortable, well equipped with great views. We were treated to some lovely otter watching on several evenings, (around 4 – 5pm) with the incoming tide. The best part of every day was coming back to a G and T on the decking watching the sea, birds and sunset.

It was great to have all the info guides and walk books which we used a lot and to have a good range of DVDs

Thanks for all you info and communication.

Best wishes

Jenny,
Thanks for letting us use your wonderful accomodation on Skye. We had a fantastic time. The weather was lovely, even when wet weather came it seemed to blow over very quickly.
The position of the house so close to the shore of Broadford Bay was great. The bay is very sheltered and although rocky, the coast was suitable for our inflatable kayaks, so we had good use of those over the fortnight. The bay is quite sheltered by the mainland and other islands so the sea is very calm.
We drove around most of the island and superb views can be seen wherever you go. The museum on the north of the island is very nice and this area seemed even quiter than other parts for those prefering to have complete peace and tranquility. We also enjoyed the walk down from the end of the road on the sleat penninsular to a lovely sandy beach which we had to ourselves for most of the afternoon (although we shared the bay with a grey seal who was lazing in the water!)
The island was fantastic for bird watching and the otter was a frequent visitor along the coast.
Fishing was best from the pier at Armadale but locals say the bast fishing is from the mainland!

Dear Jenny,

The house was comfortable, especially the kitchen. Skye was a fascinating isle. The weather changed every hour and we made many trips to the different parts of this nice island. The visit at Neist Point lighthouse was the highlight, we saw some whales. We are sure that some of us visit Scotland once again.

Thank you,

Hi Jenny and Dave
Just got back from a holiday from Skye, a week of which was spent here. THE BEST holiday cottage we've ever stayed in FULL STOP. Enjoyed everything, (especially the huge bed all to myself). Spotted a few seals, although sometimes from a distance you can easily convince yourself a diving cormarant is a seal until it flies away. My mum was convinced at one point she saw a pod of dolphins with dorsal fins sticking out, turned out to be a flock of shags. Anyway, I digress.
A great house in a great place, hope we'll be back (but hopefully we'll bring some sun).
Thankyou!

Dear Jenny,

Every stay or article written has a beginning, middle and end section, where does one begin? Or do they just roll into one?
The beginning Fantastic cottage with all the amenities, comfort and in the perfect setting which we hoped that our pre-booked holiday would live up to. This cottage certainly is what we expected and much more.
Middle section. Such a selection of wildlife right on the doorstep, birds, otter and seals watching us as we watched them. The Isle of Skye has so much to give us. The Cuillins which are so spectacular, the fishing ports, viallages and so many friendly people wherever you rome. The weather has been good apart from one day, pretty good considering you can have all the seasons in one day.
The End. Our holiday has given the family a totally unique experience which we will always remember. No this is not the “End” we will be back again.

Hi Jenny,

Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us, but we still had a great time. The house itself is fantastic; very roomy, well equipped and great views over the sea. I didn’t manage to get onto the Cuillin to complete my last few Munroes here – a great excuse for coming back!

Hi there Jenny and Dave,

We all got Home just fine thanks.
We had a fabulous trip to Skye, and we have no niggles what so ever about your wonderful cottage. It far exceeded our expectations and we were all tickled pink with the size of it.
I have added you to my facebook and we will all recommend Moeraki to our friends and family.
Hope to see you next year.

Dear Jenny,

Thank you for comments.

We were absolutely delighted with your home on Skye. The location is superb and the accommodation extremely comfortable. It is equipped and maintained to a very high standard. We will happily recommend it to all our friends.

As you say we reported the "niggles" so that you can maintain the standard. They had minimal impact on our comfort and convenience.

The only thing we could not find was a lemon squeezer.
(Owners comment: Lemon squeezer now on shopping list!)
Please feel free to use our comments on Moeraki on the website. We look forward to returning before too long.

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for the email and apologies for not replying sooner. We had a really lovely time staying at Moeraki with our friends. The house is so spacious that even with the 6 of us it never felt overcrowded. The proximity to the shore was a boon for our toddler daughter who would have happily played there all day, if she'd been allowed. We also discovered the fantastic Creelers restaurant, a handy 10 minute walk away - superb food and lovely atmosphere.

As for niggles and cleanliness, we can't recall any issues of great relevance.

Hopefully we'll get a chance to stay at Moeraki again in the future as it was a great place to have as a base when exploring the southern part of the island (and there was much we didn't see).

Kind regards.

Dear Jenny and Dave,

Thankyou for your email and for the return of the cheque.

We all had a lovely stay at Moeraki. We have stayed in many properties and Moeraki was one of the cleanest, we really appreciated the excellent comfort and cleanliness of the beds and bed linen. We had one niggle, the kitchen tap, I think you will end up with a big water leak if it is not addressed, (comment from owner: the wobbly tap is being addressed).

Moeraki is situated in a perfect location on Skye with fantastic views, unfortunately our photos do no surpass the ones already on the website. We would like to book again in May 2011 on Saturday 28th for 1 week based on 6/7 adult occupancy. Please can you advise me of the cost and I will send a cheque as deposit.

Wishing you all the best,

Richard

Hi Jenny,
Yes, all home safe and sound thank you. We had an excellent holiday again, the heating was dealt with quickly and efficiently, so no problem there. The engineer left the offending part by the way, I put it in the wooden cupboard in the back porch just in case you wanted to see it.

Not sure I can add a lot to my previous comments, Moeraki is by far and away the best equipped and maintained holiday home we have stayed at in 20 odd years of self catering, the location and views are fabulous and I cant wait to return.

Best wishes

Hi Jenny,

Many thanks for your e-mail and we had a fabulous time on Skye. We loved spending our evenings in the lounge with a glass of wine looking out at the incredible view. We did lots of walking around Kyleakin, The Cuillens and on the Kyle of Lochalsh surrounded by incredible scenery.

We found Moeraki to be a very comfortable place to stay with all the modern gadgets. I must admit that nobody in my party is very technical so a lot was wasted on us. I apologise for having to phone you about the television and heating and disturbing your evening – especially as it looks as if the problem was a loose cable.

Thankyou for your patience.

Loved everything about Skye!! This was our first time visiting Skye. What a lovely house and breathtaking views. We will definitely be back. The weather was lovely and sunny all week so we did see the island at its best.
Great lunch at the Stein Inn.

11/04/2010

Dear Jenny,

We got home safely, after a marathon 475 miles, but as it was lovely weather we arrived in good spirits, even after 11 hours in the car! (only minimal stops on the way). We had a fantastic time at your wonderful house and would love to come again next year. Thank you very much for the bottle of wine and the chocolates. The house was so warm and comfortable and well equipped we wanted for nothing, but I am not sure if the Wii was a blessing, or a curse, as we could not get the children off it in the evenings. And then, when they did get off, they set about trying to watch the full set of your Harry Potter DVDs before the week was over. They did not quite achieve that goal. All that was left for us to do was to sit around the kitchen table with a glass of wine. Hmm, maybe the Wii ws a blessing after all.

Sky is a really beautiful island, and we had lots of good weather despite the odd rainy day. Friday was especially warm as well as sunny. I note that you have now started a Facebook page and as my family are enthusiastic photographers, I am sure there will be plenty of activity to follow. In fact, Daisy, my grand daughter (14) was so inspired by the scenery while staying at Moeraki, it seemed she never took the camera from around her neck for the whole week. When we were at home she was out on the shore every free moment - she has taken some great pictures, and has "developed" quite an eye for a good shot.

My son in law is an avid wildlife follower and the memory of him sitting on your front balcony, with his binoculars, well into the dusk of the evening will remain with me for a long time to come. He did see the otter, but sadly no eagles.

Once again, thank you very much for a great holiday, the memories of which will be with us for many years to come. (Or at least until we come back to top them up!)

Kind regards

Hi Jenny,

Sorry for the delay in replying. The cheque arrived safely - thanks.

We had a great time at Moeraki and to be honest can't really think of anything that would have made the holiday any better.

The directions you sent were easy to follow and spot on. The house was lovely - everything you could possibly want while on holiday and we appreciated the phonecall on arrival (and the wine and sweets!).

Hope to be back again one day.

Hi Jenny,

I've been meaning to email you since we got back to let you know that we had a fantastic time. Your house is beautiful! We were blown away by the luxury and thoughtfulness - we especially like the big lamp in the living room! We really appreciated all of the little details - the DVDs were great, the kitchen is incredibly well-equipped and the showers were hot and powerful. We took advantage of your washing machine, so I didn't have to do all of the washing when I got home! All of the rooms were beautifully decorated - it was great to stay somewhere with real stye and personality. We're already talking about when we can come back, and have throughly recommended it to all of our friends and family. We were lucky enough to glimpse the otter, and saw a golden eagle out by the Cuillins. I will try to add my photos to the Facebook page too; we had great weather, and the island was quite quiet, so very pretty.

...and just to make the holiday even more special, we got engaged! To my total surprise, Danny proposed when we were out walking in Glen Sligachan, very romantic. So Skye will always have a place in our hearts, and I'm sure we'll be back many times.
All the best for the rating assessment that you mentioned, I'm sure that they will love it as much as we did. I would also like to thank you for the helpful information and keeping in touch before and after the holiday, it was much appreciated.
Feel free to use any comments for the website, we wish you all the best with the business and it's clear that you've put a lot of love into it. It really is a five-star experience.

Many thanks again, we will hopefully book another holiday before too long - we might even we a married couple by next time!
Marth and Danny.

Hi Jenny,

Wanted to say what a pleasure it was staying at your house in Skye. We left early on Friday and did not have a chance to write in your guest book, . The house was really nice - the location on the bay superb, the interior decor and modern appointments and conveniences excellent, and the bedding very comfortable. The living room and kitchen areas were surprising large and spacious, and well appointed. My son thoroughly enjoyed the Harry Potter collection of DVDs.

The Isle of Skye provided a great contrast to our comfortable lodging, with it's wild and stark, yet very beautiful landscape. We hiked Old Man of Storr and got some fabulous views over the surrounding lochs, had a great dinner at The Three Chimney's in Colbost, and took the exciting drive over the pass into little Applecross for some great views of the island. Closer to the house, my son and I spent many mornings and afternoons on the rocks by the water, where we were lucky enough to be treated to brief glimpses of your resident otter, seal, and heron. It was a great trip and week, and really appreciated the house. Look forward to coming again in the summer months!

Thanks!

Hi Jenny,

We made it back safely. We just wanted to let you know that we had a fantastic holiday in Skye, it was a brilliant time to go it would seem. We had virtually nothing but blue skies and gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.

We loved Moeraki, the views are stunning and it is amazing to be able to stand and watch otters swimming by with snow clad mountains in the distance. It is also well located for traveling around the island.

I'm slightly intrigued as to how you've set this up because it is certainly the best equipped and furnished place that we've stayed. We go away each New year so we've tried a few places. It really is luxury, and I'd formed the opinion that you must have built it and stayed in it and then had to move for some reason, and that was why it was so well equipped, but then you said you'd never been there in winter. Anyway we loved it, and in particular I loved the shower, nice and powerful, and I really liked the cutlery :o) There were lots of other things we liked, and although we tried the Wii, we didn't actually use it much at all as we were out most days early and not back 'til late, but things like this would certainly be useful for families I imagine.

So thank you for a wonderful stay, hopefully we left it in good order, we took our rubbish away with us with the exception of some recycling stuff which we put in the recycling bin.

We'll certainly recommend you to anyone we hear is going to Skye.

Best Wishes,

Scott Masterton

Hi Jenny,

Thanks very much for your email, we all arrived back safely after our break at Moeraki. Your communication throughout both the booking period and our stay at Moeraki was fantastic, thank you.
We do a lot of self catering within Scotland and the house was warm, welcoming, finished to a high standard, provided us with all the equipment that one could wish for (BBQ, even a Wii for the kids and big kids!) and is situated in a lovely setting with good local services available at close hand. The views from the house are stunning and we will certainly like to return to Moeraki in the future.
Many thanks again.

Hi Jenny

Thanks for that, we actually had a fabulous time despite the weather. Moeraki is a real home from home with every need provided for. It is an ideal location, close enough to walk to the facilities in Broadford but far enough out to feel away from it all. Watching the otters and seals early in the morning was a real treat. The accommodation is really comfortable even with bad weather there was plenty of games, books, dvds and of course not forgetting the WII.. Ideal base for exploring Skye and the West Coast. Would definitely recommend, and hope to return.

Dear Jenny,

We had a great week in Skye. The weather was good despite dreadfull forecasts.
Moeraki is without doubt the most spacious, comfortable and best equipped holiday homes we have had the pleasure to stay in and we have been taking 2-3 self-catering holidays a year for the last 20 years or so. I particularly enjoyed the view from the living room and being able to birdwatch from the veranda with my breakfast coffee. (The book Skye Birds by RL McMillan would make a good addition to the library if you are thus inclined - http://skyebirds.com/) We intend to return next year with the family if we can organise dates around their work commitments, so hope to be in touch again before too long.

Best wishes

Dear Jenny,

Thanks for the return of the housekeeping cheque which arrived on Thursday despite the mail strike! We had a wonderful time at Moeraki and would highly recommend it to any prospective visitors to Skye. The location of the cottage is excellent, both from the point of excellent sea views- I never grew tired of that - great access from the house to beach - the boys spent hours searching amongst the rocks and having skipping stone competitions on the sea; and also from the point of Broadford being your base.It was ideal to get to all areas of the island and had the benefit of only being 10 mins over the Skye bridge.
The cottage itself - a really modern bungalow- had everything you could think of and then more. Every need was catering for and thought of in advance-fantastically equiped kitchen and ideal games, DVD's with access to the WII and Internet were a real bonus We would love to come back and are very happy for you to use our recommendation.

With best regards

Dear Jenny,

We really enjoyed our stay at your cottage. It is a lovely home with all you need for a relaxing holiday. The cottage has a perfect interior: 3 bathrooms, a great kitchen with all required equipment (even for desired amateur chefs). Washing machine and tumble dryer assure no clothing problems after hiking on the wonderful but muddy Scottish paths. The mattress are very comfortable; the beds have comfortable large quilts - no bedclothes like the British way with sheet and blanket. But the cottage has not only an excellent interior, it also has a perfect site: the sea view is fantastic, nice restaurants can be reached in a small walking distance and even the supermarket is in a walking distance. The only item we missed was a coffee machine or a coffee filter (we Germans love filtered coffee). The cost/performance ratio is more then fair, we really can recommend this cottage.

Dear Jenny,
I just wanted to let you know that we had a very comfortable stay in Moeraki. The house is lovely and you have obviously thought of everything. Unfortunately the weather was not in our favour, but we did manage to get out every day and even enjoyed the rock pools on the beach in front of the house.
We had a great trip to Neist Lighthouse, it’s a super place and enjoyed lunch in Neist pub, it was really nice. We had hoped to see the Cuillins again, but that wasn’t to be this time. It was also good to know that we had easy walking access to the shops, especially with having the baby there.
May be next time we will get better weather!

Best wishes,
Irene, (Glasgow)

Dear Jenny,
We have travelled quite extensively since I took semi-retirement a few years ago and I have to say that Moeraki is the nicest accommodation we have stayed in and to call Moeraki a cottage, we feel is doing it an injustice. It is more like a luxury villa.
Fantastic location being so near to the shore, brilliantly designed (where your experience obviously shines through) and your attention to detail is excellent, even to the small safe situated on the outer wall of the property which is a great idea for guests arriving at all hours of the day or night and has given me ideas for my apartment in Spain which I also rent out.
The generous space of Moeraki is a bonus too and is a plus that will go down well with guests, particularly American tourists.
Our wee dog, Elsie, normally likes to sleep in our bedroom and normally complains if she is not with us, however she was perfectly relaxed when sleeping in the non carpeted rooms, so she must have liked it too.
I previously owned the Kelvingrove Hotel in Glasgow and have first hand experience of how the Scottish Tourist Board inspectors grade the properties they visit and I am sure that they will give you a high accreditation for Moeraki.
After recently refurbishing Moeraki you are no doubt awaiting a visit from the Tourist Board.
We found the scenery of Skye quite stunning and we would recommend the Misty Isle boat trip in Elgol, where Seamus and his son are very good hosts, highly informative and were featured on ITV's 'best tourist attractions and views of Britain', shot in 2007.
We would also recommend the Skye Trekking Centre, where the staff are great, informative and helpful. I was given Fergus, the largest horse, as I am the heaviest, unfortunately.
The Claymore is a good place to eat and really handy to Moeraki.
We hope to book with you again at some point in the future.

Regards,
Robert and Helena, (Glasgow)

Hi Jenny,
Back home in Yorkshire after a wonderful week in your lovely cottage.
We feel very lucky to have been your first clients. You have created a superb holiday retreat, and it is very clear that you have put a great deal of thought into the comfort of your guests.
We did spot the otter - it was around 8:00 am on Friday morning. The seals didn't put in another appearance, so we must have been really lucky to see them. We did the Plockton seal trip on Friday which we highly recommend - we saw a grey seal in the water and plenty lounging on rocks as well as other wildife.
Hopefully your cleaner found everything in order when she came yesterday, and we can look forward to the return of our cheque.
Good Luck with your bookings and maybe we will be among your future guests one day. We would love to return.

Regards,
Karen (East Yorkshire)
